Shaoyang International Culture Association Founded

 
    With the purpose of “promoting the prosperity of Shaoyang cultural undertakings, making Shaoyang known to people all over the world and leading Shaoyang to move towards outside”, Shaoyang International Culture Association was founded on September 25, 2013 after intense preparations.
 
    Before the emergency of the Association, the idea to establish a cultural exchange association was encouraged and supported immediately by the main leaders of the municipal Authorities. Guo Guangwen, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee wrote such instructions on the report “Approved in principle and the related authorities are required to supply support as per the regulations concerned”. Gong Wenxue, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Mayor of the municipal Government wrote “This is a good thing and all the social sectors are requested to give strong support”. Zhao Lisha, Chairperson of the Municipal People’s Congress even offered two directors, one from the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Committee and the other from the Culture and Education Committee to become the executive directors of the Association.  Chairman of the municipal PPCC Mr. Zhou Jiping also put a lot of mental and physical efforts in the work of the Association. Zhou Fubo, Standing Committee member of the municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor approved a special fund of 50,000 yuan for registration and other preparation work of the Association.
 
    Mr. Wang Changzhong, Standing Committee member of the municipal Party Committee, Director of the Propaganda Department and Chairman of the municipal Trade Union, made an important speech at the meeting. Other important figures attending the meeting were Huang Shengqiu, Deputy Secretary of Party Group of the municipal People’s Congress, Hu Ying, Deputy Mayor of the municipal Government, Xiao Yilin, Vice Chairman of the municipal PPCC and Li Lanjun, former Mayor of the municipal Government and Chairperson of the municipal Democratic League.
 
    Shaoyang International Culture Association shall dedicate itself to excavating and introducing native Shaoyang culture, and organizing academic discussions, exchange activities for culture and arts and cultural industry at home and abroad, as well as international, inter-provincial and inter-city arts performances, sports competitions and exhibitions. The Association shall also be committed to supplying services to famous intellectuals for their visits, exchange activities, investigations and practices, providing well-known men of letters working outside Shaoyang with necessary convenience to communicate with their hometowns, building a platform for information consultation, communication and investigation for the development of the local cultural industry,
                                     
 
    undertaking research and cooperation projects issued or delegated by the related departments of the central government or the provincial government, being a consultant for the leadership of the municipal Party Committee and the municipal Government when a decision for the culture construction is made, actively exploring and expanding intercultural exchange channels and making contributions to the prosperity of Shaoyang’s culture and economy and the construction of “a famous international city” by offering advice and suggestions.
