Dear leaders, distinguished guests, members of the Association and friends,
Good morning!
It is at the time of September, in the golden autumn noted for osmanthus fragrance that shaoyanbg International Culture Association is founded after intense preparations and combined efforts made by all of you. Today, the leaders from the Municipal Party Committee, Government and PPCC, the representatives from the cultural circle and other social sectors, excellent men and women from both at home and abroad and those who are enthusiastic in the cultural exchanges get together at this grant meeting. First let me, on behalf of Shayang International Culture Association, express our sincere thanks to all the leaders and guests present. Entrusted by the preparatory group of the Association, I would like to make a report on the preparations of the Association and its work in the future.
I. The original intention to found Shaoyang International Culture Association
Shaoyang is a land with a long history, a land with abundant resources, a land which has created many great people and a land where thick culture has been deposited. It is on this land that a number of cultural celebrities have left many cultural chapters which have illuminated the darkness of the long past and will enlighten a new era in the future. Zhou Dunyu, the famous thinker and the founder of Neo-Confucianism in Song Dynasty, wrote in Shaoyang his masterpiece “A Tale of Lotus Lover”. Wei Yuan was born and raised in Shaoyang in late Qing Dynasty. He was an outstanding thinker, educator, famous patriot and the author of “Records and Maps of the World” and therefore considered as “the first person in China to see the world with open eyes”, Later we have famous military educator Cai E, who was the first person in China to “defend the country and rebuild the republic by fighting against the dictator Yuan Shikai. ” Then we have He Lvdting, the musician educator well-known over all China, Jiang Yanfu, the founder of modern Chinese history studies, Yuan JIliu, Sun Lianggong, and Zhang Qian who were well respected even by Former Chairman Mao Zedong, and Lv Zhenyu, the pioneer of new China Marxist historic science.
Located in Shaoyang are Langshan, called “country’s treasure and spirit of Danxia landform” and one of the key national scenic spots and geological parks; Nanshan, a modern mountain pasture which is called “southern Hulun Buir”; Yunshan, “the 69th blessed spot of Taoism”; Huangsang, called by the United Nations as a magic green land; ancient Huayao Village, one of the new eight Hunan attractions; hometowns of Wei Yuan, the great thinker and Cai E, the outstanding militarist. Besides, we can also enjoy bamboo carving, Tantou new year pictures, Huayao cross-stitch work, Baoqing glove puppetry, April 8 Girls’ Festival of Miao nationality
