That night, the Star City Changsha experienced a cold drizzling rain, but the Sports and Arts Hall of Zhongnan Forestry University of Science and Technology was fully occupied.
The championship started with the majestic song Star Kungfu written and sung by Mr. Peng Xiaolong.  The first Chinese boxer appearing in the ring was Peng Xiaolong and his opponent was Chi Jiankai, a well known “cold-blooded warrior” from Malaysia.  After fighting for one round, Peng Xiaolong was defeated due to exhaustion and all the audience couldn’t help worrying about the competition.  The second duel was fought between Chinese champion Huang Haigang and Thai champion Ben Sheng who had already won two gold belts. During the first round, Huang Haigang knocked the Thai champion down by using a clever hook, but later Ben Sheng knocked off Huang Haigang’s braces with a straight punch and the referee stopped the duel immediately.  After fighting for three rounds Ben Sheng, called “Thunderbolt Leg”, won the match with a slim margin of points.
The audience were all breathless with the situation after the Chinese team lost two matches in succession.  The following battle, to be fought between the Chinese female champion and the Brazilian female champion, would certainly draw much attention in this boxing championship.  But in less than 40 seconds, Shen Shu, called the “first beauty boxing champion”, knocked out Juliana, the Brazilian 60 kilograms class female champion and won the first match for the Chinese team. Immediately, the whole audience applauded with excitement and Shen Shu herself was also excited with tears running in her eyes.

In the fourth match, Shen Jingxiang, a Chinese SWAT member, fought Rove, a Philippine champion. At the very start, Shen Jingxiang attacked ferociously and knocked Rove down two times by crotch lifts.  In the second round, Shen Jingxiang also used his superb crotch lifts during a series of punches to tumble Rove 3 times. At this time, cheers arose here and there. The fight was so fierce that Shen Jingxiang finally won by counting points. During the fifth fight, the Chinese boxer Liu Dacheng was defeated by the black boxer Easley, known as “African Lightning”, who had beaten many Chinese top boxers.

The sixth match was a much-anticipated duel and the climax of the championship competition. The Japanese boxing champion Nishi Hirohito, much experienced, had twice fought the warrior monk Yilong and won the runners-up of the Japanese karate. The 38-year-old boxer Peng Xiaolong from Xinning of Shaoyang City, was the world boxing champions from the year 2001-2003 and the gold belt winners in the four world boxing championships. As the saying goes, "In a limited place where two men are fighting, only the brave can survive”. Peng Xiaolong who had retired from boxing for 10 years fought with injuries this time. At the very beginning of the match, he knocked Nishi Hirohito down with a crotch lift and made him retreat by using the traits of Muay Thai- fast, accurate and relentless, as a result, in the first round, Nishi Hirohito was knocked down 4 times and at the beginning of the second round, Peng Xiaolong gave heavy blows on Nishi Hirohito’s head and abdomen so that Nishi Hirohitoh knelt on his knees because of pain. Then, Peng Xiaolong hit Nishi Hirohito with a right leg swing and strengthened the fierce offensives with heavy punches until Hirohito fell again and was beaten with a direct knockout. The Party secretary of Xinning County Mr. Qin Lijun, an official from Peng Xiaolong’s hometown and the famous contemporary Shaoyang painter Li Zijian awarded him the prize. Then, to offer his congratulations, Mr. Li Zijian put a national flag on him and ran around the whole arena with him. The whole audience were excited with joy at the time.

After the match, Peng Xiaolong, honored as the spiritual heritage of Bruce Lee's martial spirit, told the reporter that this was only the first duel after hisreturn, and he would have six more, with greater and greater  challenges ahead. In the following six bouts, the opponents were from Japan, Thailand and America, the same challenging countries and orders as he faced when he fought before with the boxers from the six countries. He also said to the reporter that for this duel, he conducted a closed training in Thailand, and the feet were even injured.
At this time, the score was leveled to 3-3, and the situation of the match is intensified immediately. The Chinese champion Fang Bian, well-known as “Death” in boxing would face Canadian 80 kg class champion Olivia, who boasted that he would defeat Fang Bian, the Chinese boxer who had never recorded a defeat in the East.  Taking advantages of flexibility and speed, Fang Bian kept calm and steady and hit the component by using continuous swings from left and right. After 3 rounds, Fang Bian defeated Olivia easily and made a new record of 35 successive wins.
The last duel was between Zhang Sen, a tall boxer who had created a record of 21 KOs and Thai boxing champion Sufa Wei.  Although Zhang Sen hit Sufa Wei continuously, the latter resisted with all his might, and in the second and the third rounds, he even made counter attacks. Ultimately, both physically frail, their victory was ruled by counting points and Zhang Sen was lucky to win the match.  Afterwards, Zhang Sen said in an interview “The legs and arms of the Thai boxer are as hard as steel.  I've tried my best! "
During the 8 match-ups that night, the audience were so excited that the whole hall was overflowing with Chinese Style and Shaoyang Style.  After hard fighting, the Chinese team finally won a 5-3 victory, a big gift presented in memory of the fortieth anniversary of the death of Bruce Lee, the King of Kung Fu in the world.
