Huaihua-Shaoyang-Hengyang Railway, starting from Huaihua in the west and ending at Hengyang in the east, will be a country-level electrified railway used for both passengers and freight, with a design speed of 200 kilometer per hour after it is completed in four and a half years. The railway, totally 318 kilometers long, will connect Jing-Guang High Speed Railway at Hengyang East Station and Shanghai-Kunming High Speed Railway at Huaihua South Station, with 16 stations altogether, including Huanhua South Station, Shaoyang Station and Yanjialong Station.

Since Huaihua-Shaoyang-Hengyang Railway is a train line that connects Beijing-Guangzhou rail way in the east and Shanghai-Kunming High Speed Railway in the west, it can help the economic zones along railways of Beijing-Guangzhou, Luoyan-Zhanjiang, Jiaozuo-Liuzhou be connected to form a quickest transportation corridor so that the underdeveloped northwest and southwest of China can be connected to the developed southeast coastal areas and the Pearl River delta, and therefore, construction of the railway is of a great importance to the national strategy of Rise of Central China and Development in the Western Regions.
