On the morning of April 30, Shaoyang 1st Female Calligraphy, Painting & Photography Exhibition was held in Songpo Library. Li Zhixiong, deputy mayor of Shaoyang Municipal Government and Li Shaohua, vice chairman of the municipal committee of CPPCC and director of the municipal branch of KMT Revolutionary Committee and Li Lanjun, former deputy mayor of Shaoyang Municipal Government and now president of Shaoyang International Culture Association attended the ceremony. Others present were leaders and staff from Shaoyang Culture and Media Bureau, Shaoyang Literary Federation, Shaoyang Woven’s Federation, Shaoyang Painting and Calligraphy Association, Shaoyang Songpo Library, Shaoyang Gallery, Shaoyang Senior Painter-Calligrapher-Photographer Association and Shaoyang Chutian Calligraphy and Painting Institute, artists of the exhibits and people from all walks of life.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Yang Yi, deputy secretary-general of Shaoyang Municipal Government and vice-president of Shaoyang International Culture Association. On behalf of the municipal Party committee, government, People’s Congress and CPPCC, Li Zhixiong expressed his congratulations on the success of the exhibition.
In the name of the organizing committee, Zhang Qianshan, chairman of Shaoyang Literary Federation and vice-president of Shaoyang International Culture Association delivered an address at the ceremony. He said that at the time when 105th anniversary of International Women’s Day is commemorated, we are happy to be here to attend the ceremony of Shaoyang 1st Female Calligraphy, Painting and Photography Exhibition which is initiated by Shaoyang International Culture Association, jointly hosted by Shaoyang International Culture Association and Shaoyang Art Gallery and co-organized by Shaoyang Women’s Federation, Shaoyang Senior Painter-Calligrapher-Photographer Association, Shaoyang Chutian Calligraphy and Painting Institute. With the theme of building a beautiful Shaoyang and Sharing a happy life, the exhibition centers on Shaoyang’s construction and development, its beautiful natural scenery, national customs, folk culture, people’s livelihood, and women’s role in the development of social economy, so as to display social harmony, gender equality and harmonious coexistence of nature and human.
Li Shaohua announced the list of prize winners and presented awards to those who won. Li Lanjun，president of the association declared the opening of the exhibition.
Then the leading officials and guests visited the exhibits at the opening ceremony. They praised the fine artistic works exhibited, agreeing unanimously that with the development of society, female’s social status is improving continuously.
They are no longer the housewives working around the kitchens. And instead, like men, they use brushes to pursue the beauty for their own sake.
Xu Jun who won the second prize said right to the point that women, as well as men, have a higher goal in their hearts and therefore need a higher quality of life.
