China Democratic League Shaoyang Committee Opens its 10th Congress

China Democratic League (CDL) Shaoyang Committee opened its 10th congress in Shaoyang on April 28, 2015, with 105 participants representing Wugang, Shaodong and the primary-level organizations in the urban district. Present at the meeting were Yang Weigang, member of standing committee of CPPCC, vice chairman of provincial CPPCC and chairman of China Democratic League Hunan Committee, Hu Ying，full-time vice chairman of China Democratic League Hunan Committee, Liu Shiqing, deputy secretary of CPC Shaoyang Committee and other leading officials from Shaoyang’s four main organs: CPC municipal committee, municipal People’s Congress, municipal Government and municipal committee of CPPCC. The conference studied Comrade Xi Jinping’s recent speeches and the documents of the third and fourth plenary sessions of the 18th CPC Central Committee and the two national annual sessions held in early 2015, examined the work report of the 9th committee of Shaoyang’s Democratic League and elected its 10th committee headed by Zhao Weiji.
The congress was warmly congratulated by the provincial and municipal leaderships. Yang Weigang delivered a congratulation speech on behalf of China Democratic League Hunan Committee. He affirmed the work done by the 9th Democratic League Shaoyang Committee and demanded three things from all the members: to study the history of China Democratic League, to make achievements on the base of the existing posts and to be dedicated to the League wholeheartedly.
During his congratulation speech made on behalf of CPC Shaoyang Committee and the municipal government, Liu Shiqing also expressed his three wishes for the future of the League: to enhance consciousness and determination of being led by the CPC; to increase sense of responsibility as a participating party in the state affairs and to strengthen its combat effectiveness and cohesion. Li Shaohua, vice chairman of CPPCC Shaoyang Committee and chairman of Chinese Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee Shaoyang Branch, also offered his congratulations to the congress.
On the morning of April 28, accompanied by the national anthem, China Democratic League Shaoyang Committee opened its 10th conference in the convention center of Baigongcheng International Hotel. Li Lanjun, former deputy mayor of Shaoyang Municipal Government and president of Shaoyang International Culture Association, made a work report on the 9th committee of the municipal Democratic League. She said that since the formation of the 9th committee， Democratic League Shaoyang Committee has achieved significant results in all its work as it has stuck to the system that is set for multi-party cooperation and consultation under the leadership of the CPC and carried forward the spirit of democracy and science. The report stressed that the next 6 years will an important period in which our city will implement the 13th Five Year plan that will bring forth an overall well-to-do Shaoyang. Therefore, the Democratic League should build itself on a better foundation and actively participate the work set by the municipal Party and government, so as to advance all the work in economy and society and make greater contributions to the realization of a well-to –do society.
Then the conference was divided into several groups to study the spirit of the 4th Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee and the two national annual sessions and examine Li Lanjun’s work report. Finally, the conference elected through secret ballot a new committee composed of 20 members, including Zhao Weiji, Sun Qingliang, He Zhong, Zhang Sanping, Zhang Qunhui, Zeng Zhenhua, among whom Zhao Weiqi was elected as chairman and He Zhong, Sun Qingliang, Zhang Sanping and Zhang Qunhui as vice chairpersons.
At the closing ceremony in the afternoon, Zhao Weiji made a speech on behalf of the newly formed 10th committee of Shaoyang Democratic League. He said that the 10th committee was formed successfully with the support of 700 members and more than 100 representatives and that we should never fail to live up to the expectations of the Democratic League Hunan Committee, the CPC Shaoyang Committee and all the Democratic League members of Shaoyang City so as to lift all the work of the committee to a new level.
