Main Tourist Attractions in Shaoyang

    Shaoyang, rich in tourist resources, is positioned No.3 in the tourist industry of Hunan Province, only after Zhangjiajie and Changsha.
 
     In Shaoyang, including its counties, there are three national A-Category scenic areas   (Yunshan rated 3A in Wugang City, Gaozhou Hotspring rated 3A in Longhui County, Baishui Cavity rated 2A in Xinshao County), one national level scenic area - Mount Lang, also awarded national geological park and national natural heritage, two national forest parks (Yunshan and Xunhuangshan), five provincial scenic areas (Mount Nan, Yunshan, Huangsang, Baishui Cavity, Huayao), four national main cultural relic protection sites (North Pagota, Former Residence of Wei Yuan, Former Residence and Mansion of Cai E, and Tangtian War Time Institution of Education), eight intangible cultural heritages (Tangtou New Year Wood-block Pictures, Huayao Cross Stick Work,  Shaoyang Glove Puppetry, Baoqing Bamboo Carving, Huayao Wuwa Folk Song, Shaoyang Flower Drum Opera, April 8 Girls’ Festival of Miao Nationality, Indigo Printing Technique for Blue Cloth), twenty eight provincial cultural relic protection sites. These high tasty tourist resources with more than 300 scenic attractions in all sizes supply a huge development space for Shaoyang’s tourist industry.  In early 2006, Mount Lang and China Huayao (including Ancient Huayao Village, Former Residence of Wei Yuan, Weiyuan Lake, Gaozhou Hotspring) were awarded one of the “New Eight Xiaoxiang Landscapes”.
