Launch Ceremony for Film Series of Shaoyang Legends and the Film Boxing Spirit held in Shenzhen

On March 22, the launch ceremony for Film Series of Shaoyang Legends and the film Boxing Spirit, hosted by Shaoyang Merchant Film Co. Ltd. and co-organized by Baohang Watches and Shaoyang International Culture Association, was successfully held at Wanhua International Hotel in Shenzhen. Attending the ceremony were leading officials from both Shenzhen and Shaoyang governments, China Shaoyang Merchant Federation, Shaoyang chambers of merchant from all parts of China and the world, chambers of merchant of other cities, associations of all industries in Shenzhen, more than 50 mainstream media including, Xinhua Network, People’s Network, China Network, Tencent, Hunan TV, Shenzhen TV, representatives of movie and sports stars and investors of the film and television industry.
Shaoyang has a long history, with beautiful hills and rivers, rich resources and outstanding people. In the history of Shaoyang, people of talent have come out in large numbers. In Tang dynasty, we had Hu Zeng， a famous epic poet; in Song Dynasty, we had Zhou Dunyi, a great Confucian; in Ming Dynasty, there were Mu Ying and Lan Yu, senior officials who made contributions to the founding of the dynasty and in later Ming and early Qing dynasties there was Che Family that offered to the society a lot of talents. Especially in Qing Dynasty, we had Wei Yuan, an enlightenment thinker, who, at the time when China was being bullied by big powers, presented a world-shaking proposition that Chinese should “use advanced technology of foreigners to deal with foreigners”, which made him a pioneer who helped the Chinese people open their eyes to see the whole world. During early Republic of China, Tan Renfeng, a founding father of the 1911 Revolution, and Cai E, a pioneer of the democratic revolution, stood among the first people against monarchy, making great contributions to the founding of the republic. Mr. Zhang Jun, the general manager of Shenzhen Shaoyang Merchant Film Co., Ltd. said during an interview, that since they were provided with thick cultural deposits and precious spiritual treasures, the film company should make the best use of the resources to excavate historic cultural heritages and carry forward advanced culture, such as they did for the great cultural project “Film Series of Shaoyang Legends” that was decided at the very beginning of the establishment of the company.
“Film Series of Shaoyang legends” is aiming at inheriting Baogulao (Shaoyang people) Spirit, carrying forward Chinese culture and creating a new trend in the field of film and television, with the purpose of pushing Shaoyang people and its culture to the whole world by deeply excavating Shaoyang’s historic figures, contemporary legends and business elites who have been struggling hard to expand their business, publicizing Shaoyang’ culture and developing Baogulao Spirit of Shaoyang people who have the courage to do anything ahead of people in other parts of China.
“Boxing Spirit”, the first of the film series is based on the real person of Peng Xiaolong, a Chinese world boxing champion. It is a motivational kungfu film mingled with youth, dreams, hot blood and vivid actions, a epic blockbuster that carries forward Chinese culture, praises warrior spirit, sings the song of the main theme of the time and expands the positive energy of the society. The film is invested by Shenzhen Shaoyang Merchant Film Co., Ltd. and starred by world boxing champion Peng Xiaolong. It is said that a large cast will be anticipated, which includes A-listers from three places of Taiwan Strait and top ten world boxing champions.
At the launch ceremony, Liu Changjiang, chairman of Shenzhen Shaoyang Merchant Film Co., Ltd., said that Mr. Peng Xiaolong is the pride of Shaoyang people. From a mountain boy to a world boxing champion, he encountered thousands of setbacks, but bore up bravely and persisted in his dream until he succeeded. The film is based on his life experiences, so there is no doubt that people will be moved and stimulated. Liu Changjiang said that he himself was so moved by Peng Xiaolong’s deeds and his spirit that he decided to invest in this film and the film series in order to do something for the publicity of the homeland. After contacting his resources such as TV stations, publishing houses, cinemas, internet lines, he found that he made a right choice and was confident that the film and others in the film series would be successful.
On behalf of Shaoyang Municipal Government, Li Lanjun, former mayor of Shaoyang and now president of Shaoyang International Culture Association, attended the ceremony and made a speech. She said the activity is of both educational and communicational significance as it encourages Shaoyang people to produce their own films, publicize their own culture and spread their own Baogulao Spirit, and hoped that Shenzhen Shaoyang Merchant Film Co., Ltd. will make more films similar as Boxing Spirit. She spoke highly of Mr. Liu Changjiang, the organizer of the activity and the investor of the film Boxing Spirit, as the person who is an outstanding, successful entrepreneur, spares no effort to do the work related to factories, chambers of merchant and charity, and always takes a broad and long time view for whatever he does. She also praised Peng Xiaolong as the pride of Shaoyang people as he, though coming from a poverty-stricken family, has won Shaoyang people’s respect after self-reliance, self-challenge and self-conquest and developed Baogulao Spirit of daring to do everything ahead of people in other parts of China. He is the example to be learnt from by all the people. She hoped that everybody should support the film and make a contribution to the expansion of Shaopyang culture and Chinese culture. In the end, she introduced a book Shaoyang People in the Global Village which will be compiled in both Chinese and English and the new idea conceived for the column “Baogulao Travel Around the World” to be jointly opened by Shaoyang International Culture Association, Shaoyang Daily and Shaoyang News Online.
Shenzhen Shaoyang Film Co., producer of the film Boxing Spirit, introduced the production team of the film, which makes the film highly anticipated by the people. Peng Xiaolong, leading actor of the film, sang his original song “Star Kungfu”, pushing the ceremony to a new height. Finally, all the leaders present along with the investors and the production team of the film brought the ceremony to an end.
It is said that Boxing Spirit will begin filming in May and the movie will be delivered to audiences worldwide at the end of the year.
